Villagers in this predominantly tribal area of Thane district beat drums, danced in their colourful attire and showered flowers on Advani and his entourage as he arrived in Achhad this afternoon after a gruelling three-day-long journey criss-crossing Gujarat, which began on April six from Rajkot.

While Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi [Images] saw off Advani, Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Ghadkari welcomed him.

Amid shouts of Jai Shree Ram, both Advani and Modi termed the Yatra as successful with over 50 meetings and four major public rallies.

Modi expressed hope that the yatra's success would send a strong signal to the United Progressive Alliance government that they should not link the nation's security to vote bank politics.
